On Saturday 19th May, the East Fremantle Junior Football Club Year 7s team represented the Power in the Little League match played at half time of the East Fremantle v Swan Districts game. The team met at the Moss Street entrance to the ground where we were greeted by the Little League coordinator from the Sharks; he was fantastic and had the full attention of our group from the moment we arrived. First-up, a Captain and Vice Captain were selected to lead our team. Captain on the day was Emily Murphy. Vice Captain was Bailey Burns. After watching the 1st quarter of the league game, we spent the 2nd quarter in the change rooms getting ready for the big match.

As we wear East Fremantle (Power) jumpers each week, it was agreed we’d wear Swan District jumpers. The vertical stripes made everyone look 6 inches taller. As far as the game went, the boys acquitted themselves well. The boys performed well and behaved exceptionally, representing the club with pride. To cap off what was a great day of footy (we had already played our regular fixture in the morning), Daniel Richards (the Club’s Coaching Coordinator) produced a DVD of the game. The DVD is sensational and I thank Daniel very much for doing this. Daniel was present watching Isaac his son (who kindly played with our Team). A copy of the DVD is being provided to each member of the team.

To the parents that helped out and watched thank you; I’m sure they got a lot out of the afternoon. To Nicole Shackleton, well done with your responsibilities on the day. Nicole was asked to pick one of the better players from each of the teams, recognised at a mini-awards ceremony upstairs after the game. Oakley Monument was selected as our best player. To all Year 5 and 6 players (and parents), I strongly recommend you commit your boys and girls to this wonderful opportunity should you receive the offer. It is an experience really worth looking forward to!
